Handling of Images And Other Media

All content relating to DRAGON QUEST XI S—including, but not limited to, gameplay footage, still images, characters and music (collectively, the “Materials”)—is the property either of a collaboration of authors including SQUARE ENIX or of individual rights holders who have given SQUARE ENIX the necessary permissions for their work to be used in DRAGON QUEST XI S. You may not reproduce or distribute the Materials without SQUARE ENIX’s prior permission. Notwithstanding the foregoing, you may post the Materials online for the permitted uses listed below. The use of the Materials in any context other than the permitted uses, or the use of any other materials owned or controlled by SQUARE ENIX, is not permitted.

Permitted Uses:

• Posting gameplay images on personal blogs or microblogging platforms (such as Twitter).
• Sharing gameplay videos (including those containing background music) on video-sharing sites such as YouTube or Niconico so long as the video-sharing site has a licencing agreement with the Japanese Society for Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers (JASRAC). You may also share URLs and thumbnails relating to these videos on personal blogs or microblogging platforms (such as Twitter).

Terms of Use

• You must clearly display the following information on all gameplay videos and any other content that incorporates the Materials:

  Some consoles’ built-in sharing functions may add this information automatically when sharing videos and screenshots. If you use such images and videos without modification, it is not necessary for you to add the information manually.

• In order not to spoil players’ enjoyment of DRAGON QUEST XI S, you must mark all content that includes details of major plot developments with a clear spoiler warning.
• You are not permitted to stream or upload videos or screenshots of any scene if native gameplay recording is blocked for that scene (e.g., the ending).
• You are not permitted to create edited video content or playlists with the goal of showing cinematic scenes (as opposed to gameplay) from DRAGON QUEST XI S.
• Do not reproduce shared content other than as expressly contemplated by these guidelines. For example, you must not collect and distribute Materials via other media—e.g., in book form—even if you do not stand to gain financially from doing so.
• Please refrain from sharing content on paid sites or services. (This does not apply to premium Niconico accounts.)
• Please refrain from sharing content on sites or services that are intended only for those aged 18 and over.
• Please refrain from sharing content on sites that violate public order and morals.
• Please refrain from sharing content on sites related to religious, political, or anti-social activities.
• Please refrain from slandering specific players.
• You must immediately comply with any request from SQUARE ENIX to remove Materials from any shared content, regardless of whether SQUARE ENIX provides a reason for the request. SQUARE ENIX reserves the right to require removal of any content incorporating the Materials that it deems to be inappropriate in its sole discretion.
• SQUARE ENIX makes no guarantees concerning the Materials, including that the Materials will not infringe third party rights. SQUARE ENIX will not compensate you or any third party for any damages or injuries that arise as a result of use of the Materials.
• SQUARE ENIX may modify these Guidelines at its sole discretion at any time without prior notice. You may be asked to remove any Materials that no longer comply with the updated Guidelines.
